I agree with you about creating assets over blog posts. A big chunk of my own will find their way into one larger project or another.

But if you're serious about putting a 'hub' together as a site I would recommend using WordPress(.org) so that you own the content and it isn't on someone else's platform. There's a learning curve but most hosts will help with the setup and the cost can be quite minimal, especially if you're blogging more on Medium than your website (I'm still figuring out the right mix there).

I just hate to see people put time and effort into shiny tools that just split their ability to present a cohesive home.
